Visitor Guidelines

Have fun, but avoid loud or unruly behaviour. Verbally or physically abuse visitors will be asked to leave.


Respect the exhibits. Do not touch fossils or display cases or stand in exhibits.


Smoking and vaping are permitted in designated areas only. Alcohol and recreational cannabis consumption is prohibited.


Shirts and shoes are mandatory. Swimwear and clothing displaying offensive content are not allowed.


Solicitation of any kind is prohibited in the building and throughout the property. 


Pets are not allowed inside the Museum, except service dogs. Dogs on leashes are permitted on the trails around the Museum in Midland Provincial Park. 


Water and baby bottles are allowed in the galleries. Enjoy any other food and beverages in designated areas only. 


Feel free to take photos or video with handheld equipment or a monopod for non-commercial, non-promotional use, but be respectful of other visitors. All other photography or filming requires prior permission from the Government of Alberta.


Do not stop in the fire lane in front of the building at any time.


Drop zones are for short-term parking only. 


Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult throughout the Museum and on public programs.


Drones and other unmanned air vehicles are not permitted to take off or land in a provincial park or recreation area.
